I wasn't aware of that thread. And having read it, on another subject,
having looked in the modules tar ball for the tiny core 3.17.2 kernel
build mentioned in that thread....

*Big, fat, hairy warning.* Use the upstream rtl8192 driver at your
peril! Patch back in the module that was being used to support Realtek
8188/8192 wi-fi, in the Pi kernels 3.12.x -> 3.16.x, unless you want to
start receiving complaints from users that wi-fi dongles that used to
work just fine, now fall-off the network. ;)
