Yes, I've used the JL_ screen size variables in dev mode, forgot about that. Jivelite has used those variables since Michael added them to the skins... wow almost 2 years ago now. I'd suggest only setting the screen size in config.txt if both values are not zero in the jivelite tweaks. I'd allow 8 and 24 bit depths as well for completeness. fbset will just fail and use the previous mode if invalid.
