I have seen comparisons of a 300 604e and a 233 G3 and the G3 is about the same. That might make a 350 604e a bit faster than a 220 G3 in most uses that don't use Altivec.
If your Mac works with the L2 in it then it is OK. I have had some 7600s to work with the cache left in. PowerLogix software lets you disable the L2 through the software and it may work with the Newertech?
