One of the tricks I've heard to reformat a drive is to use Apple's 
own "erase disk" feature instead of a third party formatter.  There 
is also a feature you might be able to use once your Jag install CD 
is booted.  There's a built in utility in the menu items called "open 
disk utility"  That might work as well for a reformat, but again, 
might only see it once it's been priorly erased with "erase disk"
