I wasn't gonna respond to this thread, but it's reached the point where I
must...

Theological ignorance is ignorance all the same, whether the theology in
question is Christian, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Islamic, Driudic or Gnostic.
And to equate a profit-driven Hollywood interpretation of myths with any
kind of reality that those myths might have had is a stupidity of quantum
proportion. To further conclude that that Hollywood "vision" represents any
kind of value system of the people being portrayed belies an ignorance of
human behavior so profound as to boggle one's mind.

What I have seen here of late, convinces me that there is no "sensible"
discussion going on about the sociocultural and religious conflicts of
having a website that is sponsored by commercial entities and has readers
whose beliefs run counter to the religious beliefs of the site owners, in a
political entity ostensibly based upon the concept of separation of Church
and State. Editorial viewpoints are just that...the views of the editor.
Yes, if there is a commercial sponsorship associated, then one has to be
willing to accept what goes with that. Ask Bill Maher about that. The bully
pulpit has its own responsibility AND freedoms.

Why any one feels that they must use this forum to display their rather
appalling ignorance of history (both political AND religious) is beyond me.
I feel that it is time for the List Mom to assert their authority to bring
this thread to closure. It is neither appropriate to the ends of this forum
nor is it offering any enlightenment.

Sheesh!
