Although I'm not too big on getting drives of unknown origin, if you 
know where it is coming from, I don't have a problem with 2nd hand 
drives. If they test out okay, you'd be fine.

Another thing, subscribe to the swap list. You could probably find a 
number of people in Canada who would be happy to get rid of a 2 or 4GB 
drive for a very moderate amount.
