Further, [Quartz Extreme] only really works well if the machine use the AGP, rather than PCI, to connect graphics to computer. Apple don't officially support QE via PCI, and although there are hacks to turn it on, it can overload a PCI bus

hum. On a PCI-based machine, this makes sense -- 260+ MB/sec vs 2.1 GB/sec (PCI vs 8x AGP). But on a PCI-X machine? PCI-X can toodle at 16 GB/sec. Hopefully full PCI support is on their TBD list?
