Hi list-
I've been running Panther on my S900, G4/450 with 1 GB of RAM and a Radion 7000 card.
Things were running quite nicely for some months, until (I can't swear to the cause here) I applied the latest security update. It could have been a combo update prior to that. The symptoms are long halts showing the beach ball spin and then catch up of clicks that I had made while the ball spun. There are a few apps that quit because of Java quitting. I notice that the processor indicator shows 100 activity most of the time. That was not how it was before. When I boot cold into Panther from 9.2.2 or 9.1, a rare occassion, with XpostFacto v16 I believe, the machine will not boot with the L2 cache selected. When I was running 10.2.8 I was able to turn on the L2 cache. Is there a way to turn on the L2 Cache after start up? If I could do that do you think that this may help place less drain on the processor and speed up the running? Any help or ideas welcome. Thanks all for your help.
