Ben,

You aren't going to be able to get 10.0 on your 3400
with those specs.

The minimum for X is 128 Megs of RAM. You would need
to max your 3400 out at 144 first.

Next you don't really get an option of not installing
all the other language junk on install though you can
use Delocalizer afterwards to free up space. You will
need more than 2 gigs just for the installer to be
able to write the files then move them around as it
optimizes.

Finally your 3400 will be slower than most people can
bear to use if you do manage to get X installed. Some
people have been able to.... some never can get it to
work... just seems to be a computer whim whether it
will work or not.

Personally after reading people saying that they had
to use a special version of Mozilla 1.3 that was
updated for OS9 to use G-mail, I downloaded it. It
was *agonizingly* slow on a 3400. I can't imagine
dealing with a whole operating system that would run
that slow. I kept it just in case I need to order
something from a site that iCab won't work with.

My advice download iCab. It works great on 3400's and
if you set the
Javascript Identity to IE 5.5 and the Network Identity
to Mozilla/4.0 almost all websites work. Of course
G-mail won't work but Yahoo mail does and its free
too.

I won't waste anymore bandwidth telling you why I love
my 3400 but its on my website if you're interested.
The 3400 is a great low end PB just don't try to do
more than its designed for.
