Dear List:

After extensively upgrading the hardware on my old Power Mac 7600,
installing X PostFacto and then getting OS X (v10.2) installed, I am now
using this Mac as a digital music box. It is integrated into my home
entertainment system and works beautifully. There is a 160GB ATA drive
installed and it is partitioned into two volumes: an 8GB volume for OS X
itself and the other volume dedicated to storing music files.

With iTunes (v 4.7) any music that I install copies itself directly into the
Music folder in my Home directory. If I don't want this to happen and
instead have the music which stored on the larger partition to be accessed
and not copied to the Music folder in my Home directory, can this be done?

Roland :)

In iTunes->Preferences under the Advanced Tab, there is a setting for the iTunes Music folder location. IIRC, you have to move the already stored songs manually.
