The Sawtooth is a very good design, definitely worth upgrading, to a point. just remember you can go overboard...a new Mini will perform better than most Sawtooths will, even upgraded,
True, except for one major flaw -- the hardwired video doesn't support two monitors. The second monitor has spoiled me rotten; doubled productivity all by itself, just because of the extra real estate. I will never operate without at least two monitors ever again.
There is some kind of USB workaround device available, but until I hear positive things from someone who is using it daily, I'll steer clear of the mini as a main machine.
But, it might do for a second platform, if I upgrade the Sawtooth or can somehow swing a G5.
unless you spend enough for a new iMac, which will outperform any sawtooth upgrade you can buy.
Sure, I know. But if I can spend $800 for a good performer, then the hope is that it will allow me some studio time to produce more stable income on the way to a new G5.
It's a stopgap measure, but reliability is the key.
All the best, Ken N.
