Truthfully, 99% of computers out there NEVER get any sort of upgrade at all; so why pay for something you're not going to use?

I see this puzzled reaction from people like folks on this list, who are definitely hackers (in the old, good sense of the word) but believe me...the vast majority of computer consumers out there use what came with their machine. You are NOT who Apple is aiming for.

Hell, I see three year old laptops out there that still have all the advertising stickers on 'em that they came with! I always check these people's hats to see if the price tag is still on ;-)

This is exactly the truth. Most people want a new computer instead of upgrading even a slightly older one, even if the money is better spent on something as cheap as a RAM upgrade. Same thing with TVs, cars, clothes etc. New is better.

The people who are happy with the Mini are the ones who accept it as a good computer at face value (this is most people) and they will replace it in a couple years when it is too slow. At which point I'll be happy to take it off their hands for $150 and promptly put in a 2GB DIMM, 200GB 7200RPM 2.5" HD for ~$100 and have a happy $250 Mini :)
