It was from someone who questioned my first post on the thread which was questioning what a person could actually do with a G3 at 300 MHz running Tiger. On the list you monitor as Nanny we have had several folks who try to run the latest and greatest OS on ancient machines and then go through the cycle of talking it up and then complaining about problems. Didn't we conclude long ago that although some things are possible a balanced system is far more servicable in the long run. I am not against doing the utmost with what one has and extending the possible. If someone who is truly a Low End Mac user by necessity due to budget the prospect of enabling extensive graphics or video editing on a cheap Powerbook may be the only way for them to get it together. For others who can afford the latest hardware using an old Powerbook becomes simply a way to avoid buying a USB to SCSI adapter. Questions in my first post were asking for information of value to the first sort of LEM lister. And I know historically (and hysterically !) that threads get very tangled and misquoted. But Paul, come on. You know me.
