Still no go. Wondering if its better to pull HD, transplant to working G3, Carbon Copy Clone the OSX startup volume for/from that machine, and then transplant drive back & boot it w/XPF? Or install OSX w/ the bundled OSX version (the one compatible w/ gray G3s), and upgrade from apple? On-line (Downloads) or CD, w/XPF?
I don't know. It's worth a try, but some beige G3's are flat-out resistant to OS X.
I had a friend trying to install 10.2 on his, and kept running into problems like yours. Fortunately he had a friend who had several other G3's handy (and who is an Apple dealer technician) who eventually tested every component of the system except the case; everything worked fine when put in other systems, but when they were all together, no go.
Eventually the tech just swapped motherboards with him, and it worked fine.
I suspect there's a lot more variation in the G3 series than just 'three ROM revs' cover. I was one of the unlucky ones who had a Rev C that couldn't work with the Sonnet trio card.
