Is there a way to set an object to not cast shadows onto
itself ? Tests I've done say "No" .

We can :

Set an object to not cast shadows ...
Set an object to not receive shadows ...
Set an object to be invisible yet still cast shadows ...

  Using the 'Light Sensitivity shader' we can have an object
cast a heavy shadow when it appears to not be catching much
light .

  I'm trying to provide invisible objects in a scene that will
cast shadows and be reflected in shiny objects but they are
self shadowing themselves . I guess I could figure out some
2 pass render method if required .

  Is there a VSL shader that does such a chore ?
