I'm not sure i understand. If they're invisible, what diff does it make if they cast shadows on themselves?
How about making them self-illuminated?

Well , as I was saying , they are visible in reflective objects,
but are sometimes not catching any light at all , since I am not
going to go to all the trouble of using Gi just to spread some
light on invisible scene objects .

Yes , I have been using the workaround of making them self
illuminating , which means another series of test renders to
get that one particular aspect of the scene correct .

I was actually asking if there is a simple switch or VSL
shader out there . I wasn't aware of any but I thought I'd
ask anyway .

Thanks

We can :

Set an object to not cast shadows ...
Set an object to not receive shadows ...
Set an object to be invisible yet still cast shadows ...

Using the 'Light Sensitivity shader' we can have an object
cast a heavy shadow when it appears to not be catching much
light .

I'm trying to provide invisible objects in a scene that will
cast shadows and be reflected in shiny objects but they are
self shadowing themselves . I guess I could figure out some
2 pass render method if required .

Is there a VSL shader that does such a chore ?

Thanks
