Greetings all,
I just installed my first real Magnolia server and this seems to be the
place to ask questions, so here I am ;)
My install was on a test server, but I made some good progress that I
would rather export to the production server rather than recreating
everything. But I seem to be having a couple of problems... My first
problem is that I appear to have broken my Public site. After getting
the Author site to look the way I wanted and filled in with some
content, I tried copying the docroot and templates folders over to the
Public webapp. Then I activated everything in the Author and tried
opening one of my newly created pages on the Public site. But for some
unknown reason I now have a message that Tomcat has no renderer for
JSP. Even though I've created webapps on Tomcat before and I have no
idea why I'm getting this message.
That problem may be moot since I have to migrate to a different server
anyway. But migration is having issues of its own... When I tried
running the export website from within AdminCentral the page froze and
and I don't think the .xml file was ever created [or if it was I don't
know where it is and I doubt I could trust that it is complete]. So I
found on the wiki site a how to make a backup to a linux system. When I
followed those instructions the command hung for a long while [not sure
exactly how long since I went to lunch] and eventually the JVM crashed
[Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)].
And I do mean it crashed... I can send the dump file if anyone knows how
to read one of those things ;)
So... My question is... Is there some other way to move this
magnoliaAuthor instance? Can I just move the entire webapp to the new
server? And once I get the Author instance to the new server, how do I
properly activate everything to make the magnoliaPublic work right?
Thanks for supporting your latest newbie :)
Nathan
