I doubt it's anything to do with idea itself, there's probably something obvious missing somewhere.

If you're not familiar with it then it'd be trickier for you to spot the error, given that everyone else who has tried it seems to have no problems. If you send step by step instructions on how to get your project up and running, I can give it a shot (on OSX here, so closer to your environment that the windows folks).
