Yes, I’ve tried a few browsers, chrome would actually dropout completely after a while and wouldn’t update my screen until I refreshed the page. Firefox performed the best, but it will still frustrating to use in comparison to turbovnc.

Near or as fast as your TurboVNC client. Guacamole's first desktop/visual protocol was VNC after all. Please specify what version of Guacamole you installed, on what server OS etc.., you may have outdated VNC library on your guacamole server. On Ubuntu thats libjpeg-turbo, for OS X Im not sure where that is to download.
