Ok, great,

I am just now looking at it and noticed a NPE in Node topicNodes =
referenceNode.getSingleRelationship(RelationshipTypes.TOPICS,
Direction.OUTGOING).getEndNode();

The referenceNode.getSingleRelationship(RelationshipTypes.TOPICS,
Direction.OUTGOING) is returning NULL ...
