Never mind, it looks like we have a problem with the main update site.
For now you can get M2E 0.97 from http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/
.
This site currently has the same build as the main update site.

I've been able to update the mandatory module of M2Eclipse and
narrowed the problem to occur when trying to update the POM Editor
(not the XML editor). The problem has been on since the beginning
of the week.
Is it just me?
