thank you for getting back to me. I don't follow what you say about the pom.xml file. To get this to work I have to build my own version of Tuscany? Sorry to say that is beyond my level of "know how". But again all I know about pom.xml is that it helps with dependencies when you do a maven build.

There is a version of the helloworld-servlet sample for the OSOA based 1.x code at: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tuscany/branches/sca-java-1.x/samples/helloworld-servlet/ For some reason thats not been included in the recent Tuscany releases but i've just tried it with the Tuscany 1.5.1 release and it works ok for me deployed to Tomcat.
