Well Willem, You have solved the problem... It is a bug with Camel 2.6.0 that is corrected in Camel 2.8.4. I am on ServiceMix 4.3.0 and that ships with Camel 2.6.0.
I changed my POM to use the newer version of Camel and CXF and ran it in Eclipse just fine.
