First, the only industry standard is JSR 170 and it has not been approved yet, although it seems to be getting close. There are many open source content management systems, but most aren't "document management systems" or just content repositories. Instead, they want to generate the presentation. This makes it tough to use a lot of them in a portal or with Cocoon.
You might want to take a look at Magnolia (www.magnolia.info) which is said to be entirely based on the JCR (a.k.a. JSR-170). I don't know what this means in practice but I plan to do some explorations this week.
