Actually, This is not really an AIR app, but AIR app converted to iOS
native app.
So the .ipa does not include the SWF.
I thought you could install it on your device, but I now realize this is
not possible since it comes from the App-Store.
And since it's not on the App store anymore, they is no way to run it on
your device (at least not with legal means ;-)
Sorry.
All I can do is send you the screenshots later.
Regards,
Maurice

Yes this seems to be a AIR app.
But I can't find the swf inside the ipa to test the app? (I can't open the
ipa on my device because I didn't loaded the app from the app-store.)

Here is the link to the ipa package:

The app is free, so I hope this is legal :-)
I will upload screenshots later when I get to my iPad.

Hello,
First of all thanks to all the feedback to my original message (which
was on the dev list).
To be honest, I don't know which list (dev or users) is the correct one
for discussion this issue.
I thought dev would be the right one, because finally we develop a new
component or an existing component will be donated to Flex. But anyway,
thanks for all the feedback, regardless on which list.
I downloaded the MAX 2011 app. Yes, there is such an indexed list.
Really hard to say if it is Flex or native when you only see the app on the
screen.
@Maurice
Please can you send me the screenshots to my e-mail? Or maybe the MAX
Companion MAX 2011 1.192.ipa package?

Actually, I got confused because there are two similar apps:
- MAX 2011, made by AJ Software & Multimedia, which is a native app,
and still on the App Store (package = MAX 2011 1.0.13*.ipa)
- MAX Companion, made by Adobe, which is an AIR app, and NOT on the
app store anymore (package = MAX 2011 1.192.ipa)
Both have the indexed list (although one is native and the other
emulated in Flex), but I cannot attach screenshots to this mailing list to
show you.

Maurice

Hi,
I have found a way to know whether an app from the app store is made
with AIR:
If you unzip the .ipa package (for MAX 2011, it's one named MAX 2011
1.x.ipa), you will notice a folder named "META-INF" with the following
structure META-INF/
AIR/
Application.xml
<content>MaxCompanion2011.swf</content>
That's not a 100% proof, but really a good clue that this was made with
AIR.
Even AIR mobile apps that are compiled to native code have this
structure, and native apps never have it.
Try for yourself testing on apps from the App Store (mostly games), you
could be surprised...

Hi,
Someone (Mick Powell <[email protected]>) asked on the dev list
about inclusion of "ios indexed list" for Mobile Flex.
I remember a few years ago, Adobe released a nice mobile app for MAX
2011, called "Adobe MAX 2011", written for sure in AIR, and including a
nice implementation of the indexed list.
It's still on the app store, search for "ADOBE MAX 2011" and look at
the screenshots.
Do you know, now that Adobe has left Flex, if they could donate the
source code for these list
Or maybe it belongs to another company (App store says editor is AJ
Software & Multimedia "http://aj-software.com/").

Maurice
