can't honestly say that I see any real difference between
useVirtualLayout='true' vs 'false.

could be that my table is just too small, or that my machine fairly powerful
(quad core macbook pro retina with 16 Gb ram). Looking at the activity
monitor, I do see slightly greater CPU usage with useVirtualLayout='false'.
Memory usage seems the same (roughly, off the activity monitor).

alternatively, I'm not using it right.

However, not being able to size the table to a height of 100% isn't going to
work for me.
Also, given that it's performing fine on OSX, I'm assuming that performance
will be much better on Windoze (at least that used to be the case).
