Hi :) AbiWord and Gnumeric are very light-weight and quick to start-up. The earlier suggestion about just leaving LibreOffice open seems about as good as it gets i think.
Maybe try a couple of different versions of java, or better still just turn java off completely and see of that helps? Tools - Options - Java and then untick the box at the top. I seem to remember i once googled and found something to increase start-up speed but i didn't like the look of any of the options in the blogs. I might feel more comfortable now tho, maybe. I hope that Openoffice.org/Libreoffice become a "lightweight" application for many years, but it's startup is still somewhat slow for me, especially the first time startup or when I open a big file. Having QuickStarter is not the point, minimizing the startup time is what I really want. Anybody know how to make it without QuickStater or upgrading my hardware? Thanks.
