We use SoGE 8.1.8  (previously used SGE 6.1u6) at the moment.
Not sure if SGE_NO_EXIT_MAIL=TRUE is effective with the version we use - do you 
recommend removing this variable?

Also I've noticed there was a ticket which marked as fixed with the same 
symptom here - https://arc.liv.ac.uk/trac/SGE/ticket/747 .

We'll try the suggested for now.

Just for curiosity: is SGE_NO_EXIT_MAIL new in Univa's GE and does the same as 
"-m n"?

The lot of output is send to the terminal? Did you also try to redirect it to a 
file?

You can also try to use "-noshell", as you start a binary.
