Hello Reuti, We've checked with DA/end-customers redirecting the output and/or using '-noshell' option is not applicable due to the following reasons:
1. User environment must be loaded. 2. It is important that the output will be displayed due to other third-party tools doing live analysis on the returned output. Do you know if the problem is in qrsh (similar issue documented here - https://arc.liv.ac.uk/trac/SGE/ticket/747 ) and if yes when its planned to be resolved? Thank You! -----Original Message----- From: Reuti [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, August 10, 2015 12:10 PM To: Yuri Burmachenko Cc: [email protected]; EdaIt; Leior Varon Subject: Re: [gridengine users] Using Qrsh - error: commlib error: got read error (closing "host1/shepherd_ijs/1") Hi, > Am 10.08.2015 um 08:21 schrieb Yuri Burmachenko <[email protected]>: > > Hello Reuti, > > We use SoGE 8.1.8 (previously used SGE 6.1u6) at the moment. > Not sure if SGE_NO_EXIT_MAIL=TRUE is effective with the version we use - do > you recommend removing this variable? It's just the case, that I never heard of it and can't find it documented. As said: if the intent is to disable any emails which are send by other default settings in your environment, "-m n" can be used. -- Reuti > > Also I've noticed there was a ticket which marked as fixed with the same > symptom here - https://arc.liv.ac.uk/trac/SGE/ticket/747 . > > We'll try the suggested for now. > Thank You! > > -----Original Message----- > From: Reuti [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Sunday, August 09, 2015 6:53 PM > To: Yuri Burmachenko > Cc: [email protected]; EdaIt; Leior Varon > Subject: Re: [gridengine users] Using Qrsh - error: commlib error: got > read error (closing "host1/shepherd_ijs/1") > > Hi, > > Am 09.08.2015 um 15:02 schrieb Yuri Burmachenko: > >> Hallo to distinguished forum members, >> >> We are trying to run some job with a lot of output via qrsh and we get the >> following error: >> * error: commlib error: got read error (closing >> "host1/shepherd_ijs/1") >> >> Calling command: >> * /opt/sge/bin/lx24-amd64/qrsh -b y -q all.q -now no -l mem_free=1G >> -v DISPLAY=vnchost:10 -V -w w -cwd -N some_job -v SGE_NO_EXIT_MAIL=TRUE >> job_with_a_lot_of_output > > Just for curiosity: is SGE_NO_EXIT_MAIL new in Univa's GE and does the same > as "-m n"? > > The lot of output is send to the terminal?
