1. my comment about boss 3.0 hinges around my belief that
linux distros are more 'powerful' than windows .. they work
as desktops, servers, etc and also have appls like Ooo suite
included (M$ Vista 'includes' MsWorks 8 .. not MsOfficeX.xx)
strawman - i don't think anyone did argue with you on that. for example,
i tend to believe that Open Source is a better development model for
software than what Windows adheres to. That doesn't generally
extrapolate to the belief that any linux distribution is 'powerful'
2. ANY distro of linux .. ubuntu etc can be had on no payment
and on freedom to alter basis .. see things on an inclusive
platform .. use this and that and that .. use VmWare to do
all this .. no issues
why vmware ?
3. i am NOT recommending BOSS .. i AM recommending use
of hindi and the 22 languages which have unicode codepoints
.. " i do" in my post relates to use of 'hindi' .. not 'boss'
so i'm to be spared being 'dead'
you miss the point or worse, don't want to get entangled with it.
BOSSLinux has not been a good citizen in the world of FOSS. Now, I have
no reason to ask why they choose to be what they ended up being ? What I
have all the more reason to query is - why is it difficult for you to
comprehend that re-inventing the wheel isn't how community operates ?
4. a response .. 'older hardware' is not better .. newer distros
have some drivers missing for 'older hardware' .. i need both
confirmation and/or denial on this (mis)understanding .. if i did
indeed misunderstand
again - missing the point or, worse ... if BOSSLinux does indeed contain
drivers for any hardware that is not upstream, prudence demands that it
would work out a zillion times well if it is pushed upstream.
producingoss.com is a site that is highly recommended before we proceed
to discuss more on this.
(btw kushal is fondly remembered by a top boss developer/
programmer .. nirupama or indraveni .. from earlier days of
debian (?) development teaming ups .. time indeed affects
friendships .. as do positions of responsibilites and roles that
are to be played on the 'now' timelines .. such a sad fact ..
let's take a few cues .. and fight the 'terror' of 'disagreeing' ..
and try the 'mantra' of 'discovering' our own limiting 'qualities' ..
like marx said .. we have nogthing to lose except our shackles ..
arthur clarke brought the world together by his 'clarkes orbit ..
maybe we can learn from him to bring our tiny world of
friends closer to the spirit of working together for common good)
sweet but naive. the easiest thing to talk about is 'ego'. the hardest
thing is to admit that Open Source means working 'with' and not
'without' the community.
admitting that is a step forward, trying to brush that aside with
arguments that are not rational are a general act of being cute.
