No fooling. And add to that the loss of intellectual property
that they have learned over the years with QB ("I CAN'T LEAN
ANYTHING NEW !!!!).
One option: use QB Online. I never tried it.
Every bookkeeper I work for hates it.
Another option: run it in a Windows VM. I run it in a Windows 11 VMware VM.
That would work, but it would add a layer of complication to
low skill uses. And you would still have Windows-11 to cope
with. It is spyware by design.
QB now forces you to pay a yearly subscription or lose access to any
data. It won't open after the subscription expires (or at least that's
what I saw). Forget that. I went back to QB 2019, since it's the last
version not requiring a yearly subscription.
I warn my customers about this. They really do not care for
it. And they don't blink an eye about paying M$ every years
for Office 365. Go figure.

Oh an try to get them to use Libre Office. In 31 years of
doing this, I can only get new users to office suites
to use it. In my technical opinion, Libre Office is
slightly easier to user than M$ Office. SO back to
the "I CAN'T LEARN ANYTHING NEW!!!" problem.
