jruby-maven-plugin gives you ruby scripting within pom.xml - see an example here

https://github.com/torquebox/jruby-maven-plugins/tree/master/jruby-maven-plugin/src/it/simple-ruby-script

if you need other rubygems for your script you need to go with
gem-maven-plugin where you can add these gems as plugin dependencies:
