Came this utterance formulated by Walter Hildebrandt to my mailbox:
Sorry for the confusion. i will try again.
If A1 is empty or has an 0 in it, I want B1 to be empty. At the same
time if A1 has any number in it, I want B1 to have that number in B1.
In B1 type
=a1
Format column B to have no leading zeros:
* Right click in the column heading
*Select Format Cells
* In the middle of the panel that opens is a box labelled "Leading
zeros"; change the value to 0.
Done.
