I registered at Open Office. As soon as I changed to the download page I got a message "register or log in". After logging in I went back to the download page and get the message "register or log in". How do i get out of this vicious circle???

I already tried registering again under five or six names, no success.

There are 2 different registrations involving OO that are possible: (1) Registering at the web site to create an account; and (2) Registering the program, which is something the program asks you to do when you launch it. There's no connection between the two.

It isn't necessary to register at the web site if you wish only to download the program. You can ignore the register/login box and proceed to download. I believe the only reason you might need an account at the web site is if you want to post in the forums.

If you want to register the program, do that using the dialog the program offers. If you don't want to, you can tell the dialog this and it shouldn't bother you again. (OO.org likes people to register so they can estimate how many use the program -- that's all that's involved -- nothing sinister.)
