Very true. Also, do not jump on users, in the list, about YOUR favorite
method of posting. Some mail readers, such as Microsoft Outlook, put
the reply text at the TOP of the message. Also, please read through RFC
1855 about how to handle this situation.

Most are posting from GMANE or Google Groups and have no idea where
their messages are going. Some folks expect PERSONAL attention to their
problems.

Correct. We should also include a line like this: I am but one person
providing this reply out of my own time. Please do me and you the favor
of saving time and replying to the users@openoffice.org mailing list or
the where you placed your original post. If you wish to receive further
replies on your question, send a blank message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] This will not be necessary if you
subscribed to this list through GMANE or Google Groups.

This is also a waste of bandwidth and is considered flaming (see RFC
1855 for how to handle these messages.)

First this 'field' is in the header of any mail message sent from the
openoffice.org mail system. It is hidden by default in most mail
readers. You need to setup your mail reader to show all header
information.

The header also shows that the message was delivered to the mail list.
Thus, unsubscribed posters will have two addresses in the message
header, one for the moderator and one for the list.
