IMO that could result in difficulties with the predefined child styles
(have a look at *hierarchical* view of styles and formatting window -
especially the placement of your new defined style)

You may play with 'Find & Replace' [<Ctrl> + F]
-> 'More Options'
-> 'Search for Styles'
[e.g. 'Find All' / 'Replace All']
