Hi Cathy

In general the answer is Yes, except for the latest MS Office 2007 (docx, etc file types).

To open them at school in MS Office, she will have to remember to save from OOo in MS format, as MS do _not_ support the ISO Standard files used as default by OOo. Make sure also in the "Save" dialogue that the "Automatic file name extension" is checked.
