May have been a snark on your part, Brian, but YES, dial-up exists today - and for some people is there only reasonable choice for ongoing service from a provider who will actually listen to them / is invested in their community / doesn't require ridiculous amounts of money for equipment and subscription. Were it not for the fact of presently being "on-the-road" for a contract position, I would be writing this response over a dial-up connection (offline, with send after connecting). While in my case that should be changing next week (it is our intent to upgrade to DSL for the home, and home office), there are areas of the planet where not even dial-up service is available at a reasonable price - if alternatives are available at all, outside of military or commercial channels.
