Thank you for that link. It was very interesting. However, it did not address the issue of OpenType fonts in the Linux version. Linux has supported OpenType fonts since the standard was released over a decade ago, and all my other Linux apps are happy to use the OpenType fonts that I have installed. But OOo on Linux can see only OpenType fonts that are based on a TrueType font; it cannot see OpenType fonts that are based on a Type 1 font.
