SOLVED! It was my default path for saving the documents. For some reason it was set to /home/mhr/Documents/Documents/, which does not exist. The extra /Documents at the end was getting translated into a file name. I changed it to /home/mhr/Documents/, which does exist, and the problem disappeared.
