It's a variable to build the extension, not more.

This make it impossible to deploy this extension on a easy way. And if
you have a problem with users playing with addons you can disable the
installing of addons with GPOs or configuration options. On the same way
you could configure e.g. a Sogo server if there would be a
user-preference configuration variable. At the moment a change is a
really big work.
