Hi all,
I have been testing the 102 betas with SOGo for some time. It is
actually quite usable without the connector. There are some things that
do not work:
-- Creating new calendar/address book on the server (web interface has
to be used)
-- Subscribing to other users calendars only works if you go through the
whole process of entering a new caldav account.
-- Giving other users access to your calendar/address book (web
interface has to be used)
-- Address lists (They will never work without changes on the SOGo
server side)
Given this announcement
(https://www.mail-archive.com/users@sogo.nu/msg31386.html) I doubt that
there will be an update for the Thunderbird connector.
We will probably use it without the plug-in in the future.
I'm not working for Alinto, the company which takes over maintenance of
SOGo. However, I've talked to a sales representative some months ago as
we were inquiring for a support license, and they told me that they are
relocating the development of SOGo (server) to France, and would
continue development. We didn't talk about the sogo-connector
specifically though. Do you have specific indications that they will
stop development of sogo-connector? It would be a pity, especially
because TB is getting a major overhaul since about 2 years.
It is probably better to talk to the Thunderbird people if they can
integrate some of the missing features.
I think with the new carddav implementation in TB102, it could actually
be less code to maintain for the sogo-connector. There are some features
in SOGo address books which are not yet supported in the TB102 (e.g.
categories/groups), so its either waiting, adding them to the addon
after all, helping TB to get them integrated, or maybe the best would be
to integrate sogo-connector with the CardBook addon instead of the TB
address book: CardBook is much more feature complete, but lacks
management of subscriptions/shared davs as well.

Hi,
In February, Lukas Wringer asked about a SOGo Connector update
supporting the next Thunderbird release but got no answer. Thunderbird
102 will probably be released at the end of the month and we have lots
of users needing the connector. Could you please tell us if a connector
update is planned in the near future ?
Thank you,
Fabio
