I hope someone can help. I installed SpamAssissan using cpan. And although everything installed correctly, and I checked where SpamAssissan is installed. I'm unable to get it to run. I locate the executable files but when I run, nothing happens ?

1. Did you download rules?
Because without that, SA will hardly catch anything.
And those rules are often updated, and ofteh MUST be updated when something happeng e.g. when DNS blocklist dies.

2. Why CPAN?
While often working, linux distributions and other SWs like FreeBSD often provide way to install SpamAssassin using their mechanism, integrating SpamAssassin into system and MTA.

3. spamd is not necessary for SA functionality, although often useful.
You probably want to integrate spam checking into your MTA, where e.g. amavis is often used which has own daemon=.

So, how are you going to use SpamAssassin?
