Hi,
I am trying to set up SpamAssassin on my Redhat FC3 box in order to call spamd
from an IMail email server using a spamc client. I have verfied that
spamassassin works alone on the test messages and that spamc on the Linux box
also works when running the spamd daemon. The problem comes when I try to
start spamd using the -A option to allow my IMail server to connect to spamd. In fact I can't even get spamc to work on the local machine when using the -A option of spamd and specifying the spamd server's actual IP address or even the first octet of the IP subnet. Spamc then just returns 0/0 for either test
message. My maillog shows " unauthorized connection from
localhost.localdomain". It also shows in the maillog that it's falling back to running as "nobody" since I didn't use -u. If I use -A 127.0.0.1 (same as
default of no -A) it works as though no -A used at all.

I have neither Linux Firewall nor SELinux enabled. I am running the spamd
command as root.

What am I missing here? I can't find a lot of information on using
SpamAssassin with an external email system instead of PostFix, etc. Has
anyone here set up SA to work with an external spamc client, and how would I set up a "global" configuration for learning, etc.? Would I pass a username
with spamc and set up that user on the spamd box, etc.?

I'm still fairly new at Linux so maybe I'm totally missing something simple.

Is your firewall blocking you?

I use something like "-A 192.168.XX.,127." to allow both localhost and
the other machines in the network.
