It depends on which rules you are updating. If you are updating the base rules and SARE rules, once a week or so is plenty. If you are using Justin's Sought rules, they are updated every 4 hours, so you should check more frequently...say every 4 hours. :) http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/SoughtRules Just don't do the check on the hour.
