Doing spam scanning with Amavis can be useful. It gives you the ability to reject high-scoring spam, but you lose some of the per-user customizations.
If you scan during delivery, you can use all of the per-user settings, but you can only tag-and-deliver or delete high-scoring spam (if you are comfortable with that. I only do it for some of our more highly-spammed internal addresses).
