I have used Jboss on tomcat and jetty without any problems. It should run fine with any other app server. U just need to put the jar inside ur classpath and start playing with it.
To integrate with tapestry i guess u could have a tapestry service to control the movement of the token between the workflow. Basically U will use the service to move around the workflow graph. This article on TSS is a bit old but should give u a feeling of how is to work with jbpm.
