I've just came back from vacation and didn't followed the whole thread - but I think it is simply an IE 8 problem, see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/archive/2011/03/10/wininet-internet-explorer-file-download-and-upload-maximum-size-limits.aspx IE 8 can't upload more than 2 GB.
