I want you first to know that I am not the person that uses TomEE in a professional way. Although I use it since 2012 I only delivered 1 application in 2019 that was used in a real production environment with a few hundred users. It needed some convincing to get it into production, what about support? But it does not mean that if you do not pay for support that you do not get it.

I have used WebLogic in the past but there is no community version available and it is not that light weighted. That is why I use TomEE. Once you get to know your way it is a simple and effective application server that can be used by everybody.

I wish that I had more technical knowledge to help with the project, documentation or development (would love to create a console application to show better inside information on deployed applications and datasources). This is also the reason why I stick to TomEE 8 and will not change to TomEE 9. I prefer to not fix what is not broken.

So my usage of TomEE would not convince the Apache board convinced to keep this project going. But I want you to know that I really love TomEE and that stopping this project would be a big loss to the Open Source community.

Kind regards,

Marco

Hi All,

Wanted to share the state of this project as reported to the Apache board.

The short version is we do not get enough help from you to keep this project
going.

Should we continue or should we just give up?
