XWiki 2.0 syntax is defined here: http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/XWikiSyntax#HMacros Calling macros "not syntax" would be a big change in the way XWiki is documented, and it makes no sense to me since macros are handled by the syntax parser and they are not any external script language.
